(October 6, 2021, Tifton, Ga.) – On October 14, Hospice of Tiftarea will host a drive-thru Luminary Celebration of Remembrance at the Southwell West Campus parking lot.

“We know that the past year and a half has been very difficult for our community,” said Kathy Moneypenny, the Bereavement Coordinator for Hospice of Tiftarea. “We have lost many lives from both COVID-19 and other common ailments and illnesses. Because of the pandemic, we have not been able to properly honor and remember those lives in a traditional gathering, so we wanted to host this drive-thru event for the loved ones of those that passed.”

This event will take place from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the evening of October 14, and community members will follow directional signage throughout the parking lot to view the luminary display. Each luminary represents one of the many lives lost throughout the health system in 2020 and 2021.

“We will have around 1200 luminaries displayed at this event,” said Moneypenny. “While these represent the lives lost in our health system, we encourage anyone who has lost someone and would like to remember them to come to this event.”
