Tift Regional Medical Center Foundation presents Terry Arthur Physician Assistant Scholarship to Sands Mobley

The Tift Regional Medical Center Foundation recently awarded the second annual Terry Arthur Physician Assistant Scholarship to Sands Mobley.

Mobley, originally from Douglas, Ga., began her healthcare career in the labor and delivery department. She is committed to patient advocacy and supporting underserved populations. After graduation, Mobley plans to serve patients who lack access to medical resources and education.

Mobley attended South Georgia State College and completed her didactic year at South College in Atlanta. She has gained valuable experience across various specialties during her clinical rotations and has participated in a mission trip to Haiti, where she encountered significant health disparities.

Reflecting on her journey, Mobley stated, “Along with my own drive and interest in medicine, my parents have fueled my desires by exposing me to a variety of cultures and experiences. They have always strived to educate and expose me to the physical, mental, and medical needs of people all around the world.”

The Terry Arthur Physician Assistant Scholarship is funded by contributions from local Physician Assistants. Named after Terry Arthur, Tifton’s first PA and a founding member of the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants, the scholarship honors his contributions to the field.

Arthur, a 1973 graduate of UAB, joined Tifton Medical Clinic (now Southwell Medical Clinic) and currently works part-time at Tift Regional’s Heart and Vascular Center. He has played a significant role in training and mentoring PA students and graduates.
