American Heart Association awards TRMC for heart failure and diabetes care

Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) recently earned an award from the American Heart Association (AHA) for meeting heart failure and type 2 diabetes treatment guidelines.

TRMC, the main hospital for Southwell, was recognized with an achievement award from the AHA for the Get With The Guidelines – Heart Failure GOLD PLUS with Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.

“This award reinforces Tift Regional’s commitment to quality care,” said LeAnn Pritchett, RN, Southwell’s System Director of Quality and Safety.  “We are so grateful to our team of cardiovascular professionals for their hard work and dedication.”

Pritchett said TRMC earned the award by meeting specific quality achievements related to the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure patients as well as meeting quality measures of the overall diabetes cardiovascular initiative composite score.

“The Get With The Guidelines systems have been developed to assist healthcare professionals in providing the most up-to-date, research-based guidelines for treating heart failure and type 2 diabetes patients,” said Pritchett.

She added that hospitals that follow Get With The Guidelines protocols often see fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates.

“This is a win, not just for our hospital, but for the patients and communities we serve,” Pritchett said.
