TRMC Foundation announces winners of Ilse Boyette Book Scholarship

On behalf of Mr. Henry Boyette and family and The Tift Regional Medical Center Foundation, the Ilse Boyette Book Scholarship was recently presented to two full-time students.  This award was established in memory of Ilse Boyette for her love of nursing and the healthcare field.

The 2023 Ilse Boyette recipients were Katie Brey and Greggory Truman.  Brey is a student at Southern Regional Technical College where she will begin the Bridge Program for registered nurses.  She currently works in our Emergency Department at Tift Regional as an LPN while pursuing her degree.  Katie has dreamed of becoming a nurse since she was a little girl.  She stated, “Nursing is everything I hoped it would be.  Each day I get to make a difference in someone’s life and help them through a difficult time.”

Truman is attending Albany State University and is pursuing a nursing degree in the RN-BSN program.  He currently works as a full-time nurse in Pediatrics at Tift Regional and a part-time job with Turner County EMS.  After Greggory completes his BSN, he intends to become a Certified Pediatric Nurse.  Greggory states, “I am excited about reaching my next career goal as this will allow me to provide more comfort to our pediatric patients and their families.”

These scholarships are a $500 cash award, to be used on book expenses at the school of the recipient’s choice.  Funds have been made possible through the Ilse Boyette Memorial; as well as Tour de Tifton, which is sponsored through the Tiftarea YMCA.  For more information on the Ilse Boyette Book Scholarship, please contact the Foundation at (229) 391-3310 or visit our website at www.trmcf.com
