Southwell will assume The Howard Center for Women’s Health’s maternity care services. Certain providers will be moving to Affinity Physicians for Women on June 3
Southwell will be adding new providers at Affinity Physicians for Women (APFW) and will boost its inpatient obstetrical program at Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) as part of a cooperative agreement to assume obstetrical care services from The Howard Center for Women’s Health (Howard Center).
“Dr. Drew Howard and Dr. Kaylar Howard recently announced that The Howard Center will stop offering obstetrical services so they can focus on gynecology and primary care for women,” said Christopher Dorman, President/CEO of Southwell. “In order to provide the best possible continuum of care for OB patients, we have worked closely with the Howards to transition certain providers to Southwell.”
OB/GYN providers Kristen Yates Coleman, DO, Hannah Vickers, NP-C and Marcy Tankersley, NP-C will move from The Howard Center to APFW on June 3 and will be employed by Southwell. These providers will work alongside Shannon Price, MD, Alison Fitzgerald, CNM, Marlee Morris, FNP-C, Brooke Robbins, FNP and Mendi Stone, FNP-C at APFW. Southwell is currently expanding and renovating the APFW clinic building on Kennedy Road in Tifton to accommodate the increase in providers and support staff.
Southwell will also employ the following inpatient-only OB providers from The Howard Center starting June 3: Roslyn Banks-Jackson, MD, Robin Dillard, MD, Dwight Hopper, MD, Laura Callaway, CNM, Cynthia Foster, CNM, Amber Guyton, CNM, and Shakyra Robinson-Prince, CNM. These OB providers will perform deliveries at TRMC and offer maternity care for hospitalized patients only.
With these changes, Southwell will rebrand APFW as Southwell Physicians for Women in the near future.
“Having comprehensive healthcare services for women is important,” said Dorman. “This agreement with The Howard Center is an investment by Southwell to maintain and increase access to quality obstetrical care and women’s health services.”
The Howard Center and APFW will work together on transitioning outpatient clinic appointments and the transfer of medical records as requested by patients.
